Cowell Tactical Patrol Carrier
Finding an outer carrier that meets the demands of patrol work while maintaining a professional appearance is next to impossible. It seems that most of the carriers on the market are poor quality, fit terribly, and offer zero ability to customize. Most are not made in America and have a one size fits all approach to layout and sizing. After being disappointed in countless brands of outer carriers, I came across Cowell Tactical.
Cowell Tactical is a small company based out of Bonners Ferry, Idaho and has been providing equipment to Law Enforcement since 1979. Their outer carriers are 100% American made (which is exactly where American tax dollars should go). Many large agencies in New Jersey have been using Cowell Tactical Carriers for years and others are switching to them. I frequently saw Cowell Tactical Carriers during firearms training classes and started asking officers how they liked them. The responses I got made me question why anyone would invest in a different carrier.
The first thing I noticed about the Cowell Carrier was the material. All of the materials used are extremely high quality. Everything from the robust exterior fabric, the breathable interior mesh, and the Velcro used throughout the carrier. Every component of the carrier has been tested over years of use to ensure longevity. One officer that I spoke with has been wearing a Cowell Carrier for over ten years. While the officer spoke about the quality and exceptional fit of the carrier, I noticed that the carrier appeared brand new. The carrier photographed for this gear post has been worn by me for over three years with little to no signs of wear.
One of the major differences between the Cowell Patrol Carriers and the competition is that the Cowell Carrier is not secured to the officer by Velcro alone. Cowell Tactical utilizes both buckles and webbing to ensure that the vest cannot be pulled off of the officer by a suspect.
Another reason that the Cowell Carrier outperforms its competition is the sizing and fitment. To tailor the vest to an officer, Cowell requires that the individual officers' ballistic panels are traced onto a piece of paper (brown cardboard paper or even wrapping paper). After tracing the panels, a measurement is taken of the officers chest and waist. The tracing and measurements are then mailed to Cowell where they are then used as a templet to create a vest that fits both the officer and ballistic panels perfectly.
In addition to making the vests, Cowell Tactical develops and fabricates their own pouches. This allows for modifications and custom pouches for any specialty gear such as a K9 remote or thermal imager.
The benefits of Cowell Tactical are clear. Cowell Tactical sources the highest quality material possible to make a carrier that fits perfectly, has unmatched durability, and enhances an officers ability to do their job.
Navigating the hundreds of options Cowell Tactical has to offer can be overwhelming. Blue Trail Consulting can meet with your agencies leadership at no cost to discuss carrier design, officer sizing, and provide you with T&E vests.
